Johann Gottfried Müttel's instrumental concertos have been published

Musica Baltica is publishing a series of sheet music "Johann Gottfried Müttel. Instrumental Concertos". It contains all of Müttel's opuses in this genre - 7 harpsichord and 2 bassoon concertos. The editor of the edition is Ilze Grudule, the foreword is by Peter Reidemeister, Dr. phil.

Johann Gottfried Müthel (1728-1788) was born into a family of musicians in Melln (Schleswig-Holstein). At the age of 19 he became organist and harpsichordist at the court of Schwerin, where he also taught the ducal family. At the age of 22 Müttel had the opportunity to study the concerto form with the already ailing Johann Sebastian Bach in Leipzig. He also transcribed several of Bach's manuscripts. When he was 25, Müttel moved to Riga, the capital of Livonia, which had an intensive cultural exchange with northern Germany. In Riga he directed the private chapel of the merchant and secret adviser von Füttringhoff for two years, and then worked for the rest of his life as a chaplain at St. He was the organist of St. Peter's Church until his retirement. Mytelis's compositions include piano sonatas, piano concertos, piano variation cycles, "45 investigated odes and songs by various poets", etc. Some works were published during the composer's lifetime.
